Canadian fibre artist and owner of Poppysmicks
Nadine Simec was born in Barrie Ontario in 1996. She graduated from the University of Waterloo in April 2018 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts-Intensive Studio Specialization and an English minor. Currently, she is based in Toronto Ontario and runs the business Poppysmicks, selling handmade embroidery and other artwork.
Her artwork explores themes of nature, memory, love, identity, through an overarching concept of the intrinsic need to feel connected. She is interested in a wide variety of mediums but she is mainly focused in fibre arts. Recently she has been experimenting with large scale handmade embroidery pieces.
Naidne is honoured for the support from the Ontario Arts Council for granting the Exhibition Assistance grant to support her exhibit at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.
