"Embodiment" is photography series that captures a performance of myself going inside and coming out of an abstract womb. The process for this piece involved me switching between the role of the performer and the role of the photographer as I used the camera’s self timer feature in order to record specific moments of the act. Through my artwork I wanted to explore the idea of wrapping for protection and I used an abstract womb made out of fabric to portray this message. For the instillation and framing of my photographs I was inspired by Eadweard Muybridge’s scientific photographs and how he analyzed motion. The series is can be read from either top to bottom or bottom to top, each portraying a different desire. The series expresses the vulnerability of the human body and the internal need for security.
